There’s Love Here...A Bedroom Refresh - ORC Week 1

Did someone say “Challenge”?
This year’s One Room Challenge (ORC) starts today and I’m thrilled to be a Guest participant. The ORC occurs every Fall and Spring and is open to anyone who wants to transform a space over 6 weeks. You don’t have to be a pro to participate which is sooo cool!

I am doing a room I’ve never shared on social…my Philly bedroom. I absolutely love bedrooms, especially my own. It is one of the most intimate rooms there is and my bedroom could use a little more loving from me.
Due to extensive travel for work, lack of time, and every other thing that comes up in everyday life…this bedroom has not received the love it very well deserves.
We’re going to change that over the next 6 weeks.

Don’t let the super basic bed fool you…it’s really comfortable.

The Plan
This room refresh will not be costly. The lighting, rug and art are pieces I already have in a basement closet.
I know what you’re thinking….a basement closet Chanae?
Yes. It’s where I place (read:hide) items when the first come in the house. This is a judgement free zone right?

The Pitfalls
There’s an alcove in the room that has challenged my aesthetic for years. On both sides of the alcove are closets which are in use.
It is both my favorite and least favorite aspect in the room. It’s unique structure is a focal point that I haven’t been able to give enough attention to.
Also, over the next 6 weeks, I’m scheduled to travel to DC, Boston and Denver for work in addition to spending half of every week in New York.

Essentially, I won’t be home a whole lot. How will this all get done? It just will. It always seems impossible until it’s done. I also have help.
Ms. Mary and my team will support me through this process.

The Progress
Check back next week as I share my to do list. There will be a blog post every week chronicling the progress. I’ll be sharing behind the scenes in my IG stories and of course, you are welcomed to see what I’m loving on my Pinterest page.

Full disclosure: My house has been shot by famed interiors photographer, David Land. The shots of the rest of the house are amazing. This. Is. An Absolute. Mess.

This alcove is truly the bane of my existence.

Ms. Mary took shot these for me. I’m so happy I won’t be going at this alone. Kiyonda + Whit are helping to keep me accountable too!

Still a no judgement zone here, right? Don’t show these curtains to Nicole White in Florida. She despises incorrectly measured window treatments.
